My name is Jen and I am a twenty-year-old college student who is finally embarking on one of her biggest dreams- studying abroad. I’m adventurous, organized, determined, and very focused. I study foreign language and education at my university and know that living in another country for four months will definitely help me to gain a more in-depth knowledge of the culture and language. I aim to be a more global citizen so that I can better contribute to my home nation, the United States of America.

I wouldn’t be anywhere near accomplishing my dream if it weren’t for my university and all of the people I have met there. I know so many members of the faculty who have believed in me, given me leadership skills, given me courage, given me advice. I know students who push me academically, socially, physically, emotionally every single day. I know staff members who encourage me with just a simple smile. If it weren’t for my university, I don’t think that I would be half as prepared to just pack up and leave the USA as I am in reality.

This blog details my semester in Granada, Spain and all the other places I visit while studying in Europe. Please feel free to comment on any of my posts or ask questions about my experiences. I am so excited to share my journey with you.

  1. Jennifer was one of my prize babies when I married her mother nearly ten years ago. With curls in her hair and that quiet demeanor, Jens mom and I had always hoped that she would blossom with time. All children are balls of clay that form into something hopeful as time goes by. As I write, the ball of clay is taking form into something quite beautiful. She has expanded her independent quiet self to leadership roles and challenges she can’t even begin to measure yet. What a fantastic privilege it is to watch her blog and follow her journey abroad story. Breathe in all of your new experiences and know that when you exhale others will be waiting with great anticipation.

Enjoy your new founded journey. Be safe and healthy! We love you.

  2. It seems like yesterday that you left home for the journey abroad. Your Blog has allowed us to stay connected as we wait to read of your detailed adventures and see the sites of your new home away from home. Please tell your host mother how appreciative we are. Sounds like your eating well!

  3. With 8 weeks left of Jens big adventure, we long for your return!

Be safe and know that your living family awaits that big smile.

How does it feel to be a sponge?
